Increase Your Media Profile by Joining the UW Experts Database
The UW Experts Database is designed for journalists to find interview subjects who can comment on topical issues. Media mentions can raise your national profile and create more awareness for your research. To participate in the UW Experts Database, simply create your profile by logging in with your NetID. UW Experts DatabasePublic Position Statements
For those who hold leadership titles, such as director, division chair, assistant or associate dean, etc., they are considered to be a university leader. If communicating in their official capacity to any audience, including students, they are likely to be perceived as speaking on behalf of the institution or one of its units. The Institutional and Public Position Statements policy specifies when and by whom public position statements may be issued on behalf of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and its units, including the School of Pharmacy. Reminder: You must be clear when you are communicating as an individual faculty/researcher/staff when speaking with the media. You can speak personally or speak as an expert on a particular subject/research by clarifying that you do not represent UW–Madison or the School of Pharmacy in comments that may be perceived as an institutional public position.Promoting Your Research
We want to know about your grant awards, journal publications, and recognition/honors from all levels (campus, local, state, national). Please share your news with Katie Gerhards so we can promote your great news on SoP social media and DiscoveRx magazine.

Video/Photo Releases
Please keep in mind that Rennebohm Hall is a public building where journalists and others can enter public areas (Commons, Atrium, Mezzanine, and event spaces). They do not need permission if they are photographing or video recording for non-commercial purposes in public areas.
However, for commercial uses, those entities must receive permission to film in Rennebohm and should contact Alyson Kim.
For SoP units that plan to photograph or film, releases are needed only if we wish to use the photos/videos in any promotional manner such as event flyers, advertisements, fundraising videos, and program promotional materials.
In those cases, we recommend obtaining written permission of anyone who is not an UW employee or UW student with signed releases. External audiences include alumni, invited guest speakers, and members of the public. Note that any photography of children must have a release signed by a parent/guardian.
